Scotland - Holyrood Park, Edinburgh

 June 22, 2024

Bellies filled with pints and vittles and too much of Edinburgh still remaining just over the horizon to spoil a fair weather day inside the darken oak panels of the pub, we ventured forth.

The clan terries at the foot of Arthur's Seat, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.
Medieval ruin of St. Anthony's Chapel on the trail ahead.

An Uber was summed and in mere minutes we were sailing around narrow streets and whirling through roundabouts toward Holyrood Park.

Basalt flows and their typical columnar joints make for a comforting sight for the geologists among our party. The time and effort to scale the easy path to the top of Arthur's Seat (823 feet above the city) was deemed too intensive for the end of our day, so a cursory skip along the base of the outcrop was all that we had to show for our visit.

Royal Holyrood Park remains a pleasant place and perhaps more of its charms can be revealed upon a return visit. Here's to Arthur's Seat and all that is below!
