Oregon Trail - Stage 4 Edge of the Continent

Saturday arrives - as expected.  We and Inga take care of moving-in matters, tour Eugene on foot and buy brunch from the vendors at the Public Market.  With the necessities finished in town, Inga had planned that Saturday afternoon was going to be a Beach Day.

We take 11th Avenue West and after 60 miles, we run out of land (this day it is not accurate to refer to the Oregon Coast as "dry land") and come to the Pacific.  Showers and cloudbursts followed us all the way out of town, but it was declared a Beach Day and so it was going to be a Beach Day.  Once in Florence we followed the signs to the public beach, all the while I am thinking it is about to clear up.

Dripping Good Fun!

At the beach we pull on what passes for our rain gear, and walk over the dunes and across the sand to dip our toes in the surf.  We share the salt water with a couple of seals and enjoy the liquid sunshine - as long as we can stand it.

Having made it all the way to the edge of the continent and splashed in the Pacific, it was time to begin to return.

Back In Eugene, we pulled on some dry dress clothes and walked the eight blocks to an excellent Italian restaurant of Inga's choosing.  A glass of wine and piping hot pasta covered in flavorful sauce warmed our belly and bones, filled us with contentment and brought to a close the end an enjoyable day.
